When there has been no acknowledgement, accountability or resolution, we can remain emotionally connected to the experience through anger, hurt and the persistent feeling that something should have been different. The circumstances may have ended, while the need for fairness remains unresolved within us.

Over time, this unresolved injustice can influence how we respond when our truth, needs or boundaries feel disregarded again. We may become guarded in relationships, question another person’s intentions, struggle to communicate openly, or react strongly to situations that carry even a resemblance to the original experience. What begins as a response to one injustice can gradually influence trust, vulnerability, self-worth and the way we protect ourselves from being treated unfairly again.
